Benchmark-SkillWriter is an Internet-based tool that supports students as they practice and learn to write effectively. Benchmark-SkillWriter is designed to provide students a learning environment in which to practice and improve their writing skills. On-board instructional tools, such as the electronic Tutor and Hint generator, make this learning environment very effective. Automatic scoring presents a holistic score as well as seven analytic scores in the areas of Response, Vocabulary, Organization, Development, Command of Language, Grammar and Syntax, and Writing Mechanics.
